Outercurve projects are “collected” together into Galleries. Just as a museum has collections of art grouped within a theme, so too does the Foundation. Galleries are “sponsored” by companies that provide the foundation funding to invest in building out the collection within a specific gallery. Galleries are based on a theme such as a specific technology base (e.g. ASP.NET), a functional area (e.g. Data, Languages and Systems Interoperability), or an industry direction (e.g. Research Accelerators). As projects mature, some are archived, as a way to ensure the repository is stable and expectations are set with regard to ongoing updates (Archive).
